for the Care of Children With HIV/AIDS (ANNECA):

scientists committed to finding ways of improving the
quality of clinical and non-clinical care of children
affected by HIV/AIDS in the Africa region. The Network
efforts are targeted at tapping into existing local
resources to increase access to, and improving the

in the UK, working to AVERT HIV and AIDS worldwide.
AVERT has HIV and AIDS projects in countries where there
is a particularly high rate of infection, such as South

Partnerships involving sports-for-development
NGOs and the fight against HIV / AIDS
Sport is increasingly being reconginised for the
contribution it can make to the Millenium
Development Goals and response to the HIV/AIDS
pandemic. This recognition led to the
examination of a number of non-governemtnal
organisations (NGO) in Zambia, and in other
parts of the world, that deliver combined
programmes of sport and life skills education
that contribute to the broader efforts of civil
society organisations to address HIV/AIDS.
International agencies are recommended to
continue efforts to ensure that funding provided
for sport-for-development co-ordination.

Young People Against AIDS!
Scenarios from Africa is a community mobilisation, education and media
project about HIV/AIDS carried out with and for
young people coordinated by
Global Dialogues.
The 5th edition of the Scenarios from Africa
contests was held across the continent and among
African immigrants and refugees abroad from 1
December 2007 to 15 March . Young people up
to the age of 25 were invited to take part by
writing a story for a short film on HIV.
Key findings: Alarming numbers of young people
are still confused about crucial, fundamental
facts pertaining to the timing of the HIV test,
the difference between living with HIV and
living with AIDS, and the speed of the
progression of HIV in the body.
